Big East Picks +1 (Week 2)

Everyone knows at this point last week wasn't a great week for Big East teams. It wasn't so great for me either, as the big favorites didn't cover the spread (thanks Rutgers and WVU) and Cincy and UConn slipped up on the road in my upset picks. Let's try to do a little better in week 2.

West Virginia (-13.5) over MARSHALL
It's a rivalry game, on the road, so two TDs is a lot of points. But the Mountaineers are a much better team and should run away with this one.

FLORIDA (-17.5) over South Florida
This would be a HUUUGE win for both USF and the conference. Based on last week's showing in games like these for the Big East, the smart money's on the Gators.

CINCY (N/A) over Indiana St
Couldn't find the spread for this one yet, but does it really matter? Bearcats by a lot.

UCONN (N/A) over Texas Southern
Don't let a Husky fan ever insult you for playing Colgate. Randy forgets UConn is actually an FBS school sometimes.

PITT (N/A) over New Hampshire
This should be a little easier than playing in Utah. Look for the Panthers to bounce back with this gimme.

LOUISVILLE (N/A) over Eastern Kentucky
Wow, the Big East really scheduled some toughies for this week, huh? Probably assumed all the teams would be licking their wounds from last week, like they are now.

FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL (+18.0) over Rutgers
The Scarlet Knights burned me last week with that no-show against Norfolk St. That won't happen again. Rutgers falls into the trap, looking ahead at UNC. They may even lose this one outright, and they definitely won't win by 18.

ALABAMA (-11.5) over Penn State
The Nittany Lions will get crushed by the speed and talent from SEC giant Alabama. No way Penn State can match up with the reigning champs. Tide rolls big time in this one on national TV.

Syracuse (+12.5) over WASHINGTON
The Huskies probably win this one at home, but 12.5 is way too many points to give up for a team that went 5-7 last year. Check back tomorrow for a more detailed preview.

Last week: 3-4-2
Season: 3-4-2
